The wine history of the Cinque Terre dates back to the time of the Roman Empire. The area is dominated by vertical vineyards overlooking the sea. Unesco World Heritage since 1997.
The Campogrande winery is located in the historical center of Riomaggiore. Elio Altare is known as a producer of red wines with international names. The main objective of Elio Altare at Campogrande is to preserve the true identity of the territory using only native vines.
In the vineyard no herbicides, insecticides, or fertilizers are used. Every single Bosco and Albarola plant is treated according to its characteristics and potential. In the cellar, fermentations are spontaneous, i.e. no selected yeasts are used. Furthermore, the wines do not undergo any kind of manipulation, they are not filtered or clarified. Thanks to this choice, they remain intact in all their components, becoming the maximum expression of the territory, the varieties and the vintage.
