Mazon is a renowned Pinot Noir growing area - an excellent terroir for an expressive and elegant wine of this variety. It is situated in the South Tyrol, about 500 meters above sea level.
The first Pinot Noir planting trials took place here in 1878. In 1898, a "Pinot Noir" from Mazon was awarded for the first time at the wine fair in Vienna. On the very sunny plateau of Mazon there are few well-known wineries, including the Kollerhof winery. 4 hectares of Pinot Noir are cultivated on the mineral-rich soils, in a perfect environment characterized by strong temperature fluctuations.
