Best Rosè of Vinitaly 2023! This wine was born in the shadow of Etna, in a valley between the Nebrodi mountain range and the volcano. The vineyard is located in the northern part of the volcano at an altitude of 620 meters above sea level. The soil is volcanic, rich in minerals and skeleton. The vineyard, about 40-50 years old, is bush-trained to maintain old traditions with full respect for quality and terroir. The planting density is 6000 vines per ha.
Grape variety: Nerello mascalese
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand in small baskets and immediately crushed and separated from the stems. Fermentation: short maceration with skins, fermentation at low temperature for 10-12 days. Refinement: 8 months steel on yeasts, 4 months bottle.
Tasting notes: elegant bright light pink color. On the nose, it explodes with fresh and fruity aromas, characterized by notes of peach, citrus and pomegranate, enriched by delicate floral scents. On the palate, it stands out for its vibrant freshness and good acidity, with flavors of sweet strawberries and juicy raspberries, along with notes of cherry and berries. The volcanic minerality of Etna gives it a unique character, making it perfect as an aperitif or paired with fish dishes and white meats. Each sip offers a satisfying and refined sensory experience, ideal for those seeking elegance and taste.
Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Food pairing: fish dishes, fresh cheeses (primo sale and Nebrodi provola)
Serve at 12-14°C
Awards: James Suckling 90/100, 5 Star Wines 91/100, Best Rosé Wine of Italy according to Vinitaly 2023
