Republica del Malbec is a tribute to Argentina’s most iconic grape variety. Sourced from the high-altitude vineyards of Las Compuertas, Mendoza, this wine reflects the region’s unique terroir and century-old, ungrafted vines. It beautifully balances tradition and modernity, showcasing the freshness and fruitiness of Malbec with refined structure and silky tannins. A bold yet elegant expression of Mendoza’s winemaking heritage.
Grape variety: 100% Malbec
Winemaking: The grapes come from a vineyard in Las Compuertas, planted in 1927 at 1,100 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in small concrete tanks. The wine is then aged for 16 months, with 50% maturing in French oak barrels and the remaining 50% in large oak foudres to achieve a perfect balance between fruit and complexity.
Tasting notes: On the nose, intense aromas of black fruits are complemented by hints of licorice, violets, and spice. The palate is powerful yet refined, with fine, silky tannins and remarkable freshness. The long finish reveals subtle notes of toast and dark chocolate. A wine with great aging potential that truly captures the essence of Argentine Malbec.
Food pairing: An excellent match for grilled red meats, especially lamb chops or ribeye steak. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and spicy charcuterie.
