Ruberpan, Valpolicella Superiore DOC, was launched in 2003 from grapes grown on on the slopes of Monte Garzon, at 500m above sea level. The new winery is in Villa Cipolla Pieropan in Tregnago, Verona. The name Ruberpan comes from the Latin, ‘Ruber’ which means ruby red, and Pan from the Pieropan family.
Grape variety: Corvina Veronese 60%, Corvinone 30%, Rondinella and Croatina Veronese 5% each
Vinification: Grapes are pressed and destemmed. Fermentation temperature is between 23-24° C, 12 days with regular punching down, for a delicate extraction of tannins and colours. This wine ages in tonneaux for 18/24 months followed by a period in bottle before release.
Tasting notes: Brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose tipically reminiscence of cherry, strawberry fruit. Palate is complex with beautiful notes of fruit and a spicy character too. A wine with good potential to age well.
Food Paring: starters such as stuffed pasta, or tomato suaces, particularly good with roast poultry, grilled meat, game birds and mature cheese.
Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Serving temperature: 14-16°C
