This Etna DOC Rosso is an exceptional red wine that matures on the volcanic soils of Mount Etna in Sicily. The vineyard is located in the northern part of the volcano at an altitude of 620 meters above sea level. The soil is volcanic, rich in minerals and skeleton. Made from the indigenous grape variety Nerello Mascalese, this wine presents a fascinating minerality combined with aromas of red berries, Mediterranean herbs and a hint of spices.

Grape variety: Nerello Mascalese

Vinification: The crushed grapes are collected in stainless steel tanks where fermentation takes place in the presence of the pomace at a temperature of 26-28°C. Once alcoholic fermentation is finished, the wine remains in the presence of the marc for another week before racking. The wine is then put into chestnut wooden barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place. In the barrels, the wine remains for 12 months ageing on the noble lees. After one year of ageing in steel vessels, the wine is refined in bottle for 12 months.

Tasting notes: deep, brilliant ruby red color with purple reflections, which highlight the freshness of the wine. The typical mineral nuances of the Etna terroir integrate perfectly, making the olfactory experience unique. On the palate, it is elegant and well-structured, with a vibrant freshness that balances soft and silky tannins. The red fruit flavors blend harmoniously with notes of hazelnut and vanilla, coming from the aging in chestnut barrels. The finish is long and persistent, characterized by a delicate mineral aftertaste.

Food pairing: boiled meat, roasted red meat, game, aged cheeses.

Alcohol content: 14% vol.

Serving temperature 16-18°C

Awards: James Suckling 91/100 (vintage 2020), Wine Enthusiast 93/100
